Fraud Alert: Protect Yourself

At CoreFirst, your safety comes first. Lately, more scammers have been pretending to be banks or trusted companies. They may call, text, or email you and act like they’re “checking” your account or to verify a recent transaction. Sometimes they even make their phone number look real and webpages look real.

Their goal is simple: trick you into sharing private information so they can get into your accounts.

Your Best Bet? Don't Answer! Don't Click! Call Us Directly!

What to Watch For

  • Spoofed Caller ID. Scammers can make their number look like a real business. Don’t trust the number alone.
  • Spoofed Website Pages. Scammers build fake sites and online banking pages that look almost real. If you didn't start the conversation don't click on links sent to you via email or text.
  • Requests for Personal Info. A real bank or government entity will never ask for your Social Security number, account number, password or login code over the phone.
  • Pressure or Urgency. If someone rushes you or makes you feel scared, pause. That’s a red flag.
  • Links in Texts or Emails. Scammers may send links that look official but lead to fake websites.

How to Stay Safe

  • JUST HANG UP! If you weren't excpecting the call or something feels off, end the call right away.
  • Don’t Click Links: Skip links in texts, emails, or webpages that look “almost right.” Go straight to our official site instead.
  • Call Directly. Use a number on a published website or card to verify a call. NEVER call back the # that contacted you.
  • ALWAYS Keep Your Info Private. Don’t share passwords, codes, or answers to security questions with anyone.
  • Don’t Approve MFA Requests. Only complete Multi‑Factor Authentication when you started the process. If you didn’t request it, decline it.
  • Report Anything Suspicious. Report what happened, including the phone number and what the caller said.

A People‑First Reminder

We’re here to support you. CoreFirst will never ask for your passwords, login codes, or security answers. If someone does, it’s not us.

Your trust matters. Your safety matters. And we’re always here to help you stay protected.
