The deadline to file taxes – known as Tax Day – is just under 3 weeks away and approaching quickly! If you haven’t filed yet, now’s the time to kick things in gear. Get your taxes done without a hitch with these tips for late filers:

  • File electronically. Filing using an online program like TurboTax or H&R Block is the best way to ensure your returns get where they need to go on time.

Check IRS Free File for programs that allow you to file your taxes online, for free!

  • Double check your work. Thoroughly review your return and make sure you don’t see any errors before you submit it to the IRS. Any errors might bring extra review and processing delays.

  • If you’re unsure, ask for an extension. If you’re unsure whether you’ll be able to file before the April 15th deadline, you can apply for an extension with the IRS. This will give you until October 15th to file. Visit IRS.gov to learn more about how to apply.

  • Ask for help. If you have any questions about your return or need extra assistance, don’t’ hesitate to contact a tax professional!
